Beekeeping
As the initiator of migratory beekeeping in 1927, Yves Michaud was the first person to isolate monofloral honeys. As he was always looking for the best possible quality, he was also the first person in France to introduce the processes that allowed honeys to be extracted rather than pressed: the perforextractor, the rotary filter and the first nylon fabrics for filtering. By constantly improving beekeeping and production techniques, he contributed to making France the foremost producer of honey in Europe.
The passion for this profession has now been handed down through 4 generations. Even today, the migrations continue, with our hives still travelling the length and breadth of the French countryside in search of the finest nectars. In 2005, with its 5,800 hives spread out over the Pyrenees and Provence, “Famille Michaud Apiculteurs” became one of the largest honey producers in Europe.
We also share our passion with all beekeepers who want us to. Both professional and amateur beekeepers meet in the apicultural shop at our honey factory to exchange advice and tips, and to find all the beekeeping equipment necessary to develop their apiaries.
