Like ants, bees are social insects and cannot live alone. They need to live in a colony. Their colonies are highly organised, always comprising several tens of thousands of workers, several hundred drones and one queen.

From the egg to the bee

Depending on the type of cell, the queen will lay a fertilised egg (to become a future queen or worker) or an unfertilised egg (to become a future drone). In all cases, the egg will hatch on the fourth day into a small white larva.
