The life of the bee

The bee belongs to a group of insects known as hymenoptera, (from the Greek hymen= membrane, these insects have clear, membranous wings), also including the wasp and the ant. The bee exists pretty much everywhere in the world, except in regions experiencing very cold winters. There are around 20,000 different species of bee. The bee we know as the honeybee is known in the scientific world as Apis mellifera (or Apis mellifica).
